Privacy policy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

Your prayers, reflections and connections can be personal. This policy explains what information the Selahlah Prayer app uses, why it uses it, what other people can see, and how to contact us about your privacy.

Selahlah Prayer is operated by Selahlah Limited (“Selahlah”, “we”, “us” or “our”). In this policy, “personal information” means information that identifies you or can be linked to you, such as your email address, profile or device identifier.

This policy covers the Selahlah Prayer mobile app and its connected lamp features. It does not cover browsing or shopping on selahlah.com, store accounts, purchases, website cookies or website marketing. Those activities need a separate website and store privacy policy.

Questions? Email contact@selahlah.com.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using and accessing any of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Personal Information We Collect or Process

When we use the term "personal information," we are referring to information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. Personal information does not include information that is collected anonymously or that has been de-identified, so that it cannot identify or be reasonably linked to you. We may collect or process the following categories of personal information, including inferences drawn from this personal information, depending on how you interact with the Services, where you live, and as permitted or required by applicable law:

  • Contact details including your name, address, billing address, shipping address, phone number, and email address.
  • Financial information including credit card, debit card, and financial account numbers, payment card information, financial account information, transaction details, form of payment, payment confirmation and other payment details.
  • Account information including your username, password, security questions, preferences and settings.
  • Transaction information including the items you view, put in your cart, add to your wishlist, or purchase, return, exchange or cancel and your past transactions.
  • Communications with us including the information you include in communications with us, for example, when sending a customer support inquiry.
  • Device information including information about your device, browser, or network connection, your IP address, and other unique identifiers.
  • Usage information including information regarding your interaction with the Services, including how and when you interact with or navigate the Services.
  • Application Account details. Your email address, display name, account identifiers, sign-in information and phone number, if you provide one. If you use a password, the account system stores a protected representation of it, called a password hash. If you choose social sign-in, we receive sign-in identity information through Auth0 and your chosen provider.

  • Profile and faith details. Your profile photo, your Believer or Explorer selection, and any church, conversion date or baptism date you enter. The current sign-up process requires a Believer or Explorer selection; church and dates are optional. These details can reveal your religious or philosophical beliefs.

  • Prayers and connections. Your prayer categories, emoji expressions, prayer signals, stickers, prayer cards, conversations, friends, circle or group memberships, group names and images, notification records, and yearly activity summaries.

  • App and connected-device details. An identifier for your app installation, a token used to send push notifications, app and software-component versions, and identifiers, status information and commands for lamps connected to your account.

  • Support messages. Information you provide when you contact us for help.

Personal Information Sources

We may collect personal information from the following sources:

  • Directly from you including when you create an account, visit or use the Services, communicate with us, or otherwise provide us with your personal information;
  • Automatically through the Services including from your device when you use our products or services or visit our websites, and through the use of cookies and similar technologies;
  • From our service providers including when we engage them to enable certain technology and when they collect or process your personal information on our behalf;
  • From our partners or other third parties.

How We Use Your Personal Information

Depending on how you interact with us or which of the Services you use, we may use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Provide, Tailor, and Improve the Services. We use your personal information to provide you with the Services, including to perform our contract with you, to process your payments, to fulfill your orders, to remember your preferences and items you are interested in, to send notifications to you related to your account, to process purchases, returns, exchanges or other transactions, to create, maintain and otherwise manage your account, to arrange for shipping, to facilitate any returns and exchanges, to enable you to post reviews, and to create a customized shopping experience for you, such as recommending products related to your purchases. This may include using your personal information to better tailor and improve the Services.
  • Marketing and Advertising. We use your personal information for marketing and promotional purposes, such as to send marketing, advertising and promotional communications by email, text message or postal mail, and to show you online advertisements for products or services on the Services or other websites, including based on items you previously have purchased or added to your cart and other activity on the Services.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention. We use your personal information to authenticate your account, to provide a secure payment and shopping experience, detect, investigate or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, unsafe, or malicious activity, protect public safety, and to secure our services. If you choose to use the Services and register an account, you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. We highly recommend that you do not share your username, password or other access details with anyone else.
  • Communicating with You. We use your personal information to provide you with customer support, to be responsive to you, to provide effective services to you and to maintain our business relationship with you.
  • Legal Reasons. We use your personal information to comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including requests from law enforcement or government agencies, to investigate or participate in civil discovery, potential or actual litigation, or other adversarial legal proceedings, and to enforce or investigate potential violations of our terms or policies.

How We Use Your Personal Information In App

We use your information to:

  • Create your account and let you sign in securely.

  • Display your profile and provide prayer, messaging and circle features.

  • Connect and manage compatible lamps.

  • Send notifications and show your activity history.

  • Answer questions and provide support.

  • Maintain the security and reliability of the service.

The app version reviewed for this policy contains no advertising or in-app payment software integrations. This statement applies to the app, not to the separate Selahlah online store.

What other people can see

Your profile is not limited to your friends. Other signed-in users who have your user identifier can open your public profile, even if you have not accepted them as friends.

Your display name, public ID, profile photo and church can appear to other app users. Someone who opens your public profile can also see your Believer or Explorer status and any conversion or baptism dates you have entered. Your email address and phone number are not included in the public profile information the app provides.

Prayer signals and conversations are available to the people who receive them. Group information is used to support participation in that group.

Only add information to a profile, group name, group image, prayer expression or message that you are comfortable sharing with its audience. People who receive information may save their own copies.

Services that help us run the app

We use outside services for hosting, sign-in, notifications and other app functions:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts our backend, database and image storage, and handles messages between the service and connected lamps. Our current server deployment is in Northern Virginia, United States.

  • Google Firebase delivers push notifications and processes app-installation and software-component information. When push delivery is enabled, notification titles, message bodies and information that directs the notification to the right destination pass through Firebase.

  • Auth0 and your chosen sign-in provider support social sign-in when you select that option.

  • Google Fonts supplies fonts used in the app. Downloading a font shares the network information needed to deliver it, such as the requesting device’s IP address.

Where your information is processed

Our servers are currently hosted in the United States. The providers described above may also process information outside the country where you live.

Permissions and lamp setup

The app asks for device permissions to support particular features:

  • Camera and photo access support QR scanning and choosing images, as applicable to your device.

  • Bluetooth and nearby-device access help discover and pair a compatible lamp.

  • Location permission on older Android versions supports Bluetooth or Wi-Fi discovery. The reviewed app implementation does not send GPS coordinates to our app server.

  • Notifications let the app deliver push alerts.

During lamp setup, the Wi-Fi network name and password you enter are sent to the selected lamp through the setup connection so it can connect to your network.

You can manage permissions in your device settings. If you turn off a permission, the feature that needs it may not work.

How we protect your information

The release version of the app uses HTTPS to encrypt information in transit between the app and our production server. It rejects unencrypted HTTP connections to that server and uses authentication tokens to authorise requests.

No system can guarantee protection against every security incident. Do not share your password or sign-in verification codes with anyone, including in a support email.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it to provide the features you use, support your account and meet applicable legal obligations. Different types of information have different retention periods:

  • Account and profile information. We keep your account details, profile information and uploaded photos while your account is active and we need them to provide the service.

  • Prayer and social history. We keep prayer records, conversations and yearly summaries while they are needed to provide your saved history, subject to deletion requests.

  • Technical logs. We keep routine technical and error logs for up to 30 days from collection to help identify and fix problems.

  • Security logs. We keep security logs for up to 90 days from collection. Records needed to investigate a specific security incident may be kept longer, as explained below.

  • Support conversations. We keep support messages for up to 12 months after the issue is closed.

When you request account deletion. We aim to delete the personal information covered by your request from our live systems within 30 calendar days of receiving it, including the time needed to verify account ownership. We may need additional information to verify your request. We will explain any delay or applicable exception and respond within the time required by applicable law.

Backup copies. Information deleted from our live systems expires from our backups within 90 days after that deletion. During this period, backup copies are restricted to recovery purposes. If a backup is restored, we reapply completed deletion requests so deleted information is not returned to normal use.

Inactive accounts. We review accounts after 24 months without activity to determine whether their information is still needed. If we plan to delete an account because it is inactive, we will notify you beforehand. An account becoming inactive does not automatically delete its information.

Limited exceptions. We may retain specific records for longer where necessary and permitted by law to meet a legal obligation, investigate a documented security incident, or establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We limit retention to the records needed for that purpose and delete them when the obligation ends, the investigation no longer requires them, or the relevant claim and applicable legal retention period have ended.

Copies that other people have independently saved are outside our control. The treatment of shared content stored within Selahlah is explained in the account-deletion section below.

Your privacy choices and requests

You can choose whether to provide optional profile information and manage device permissions through your device settings.

To ask about your personal information, request access or corrections, or raise a privacy concern, email contact@selahlah.com. Your rights depend on the laws that apply where you live. Depending on those laws, you may also have rights to request deletion, receive a portable copy, object to or restrict certain uses, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or complain to a relevant privacy authority.

We may need to verify that a request comes from you or someone authorised to act for you before releasing or changing account information. Never include a password or verification code in your request.

Account deletion

You can request deletion of your Selahlah Prayer account and associated personal information by emailing contact@selahlah.com with the subject “Delete my Selahlah Prayer account.”

Where possible, send the request from the email address linked to your account and include your public user ID. If you cannot access that email address, let us know so we can help verify ownership. You do not need to reinstall the app or create another account to make a request.

Verifying your request

To protect your information, we may ask for information reasonably necessary to confirm your identity or an authorized person’s permission to act for you. Never send your password or sign-in verification codes.

How long deletion takes

We aim to complete account deletion from our live systems within 30 calendar days of receiving your request, including verification.

We respond within the period required by applicable law. Where a 45-calendar-day deadline applies, we respond within that period. If the law permits an extension and we need additional time, we notify you before the original deadline, explain why and provide the expected completion date. Verification does not restart the response deadline.

What we delete

Subject to the limited exceptions below, deletion covers your account and associated personal information, including:

  • Your profile, faith details and uploaded profile images.

  • Prayer records, activity history and personal information in conversations.

  • Friend connections and group memberships.

  • Account sign-in records, active sessions and push-notification registrations.

  • Links between your account and connected lamps, including associated account-specific access credentials.

We also instruct service providers handling this information on our behalf to carry out the required deletion.

Deleting your Selahlah account does not delete your separate Apple, Google or other sign-in-provider account, or a separate Selahlah store account.

Shared conversations and groups

We remove your membership and account ownership links from groups. Groups and information belonging to other members may remain. We delete your personal information within shared content unless a specific legal exception permits retention; sharing a message does not automatically exempt it from deletion.

We cannot erase screenshots or other copies that recipients have independently saved outside our service.

Connected lamps and information on your device

Account deletion removes your account’s access to connected lamp features. It does not necessarily erase Wi-Fi settings stored on the lamp. Before giving away or selling a lamp, follow its reset instructions to remove locally stored settings.

Information stored only on your phone, such as local Pause records, may need to be removed through your device’s app-data controls. Uninstalling the app alone does not submit an account-deletion request.

Backups and limited exceptions

Deleted information expires from our backups within 90 days after deletion from live systems. Backup copies are restricted to recovery purposes. If a backup is restored, we reapply completed deletion requests.

We may retain limited records where necessary and permitted by law—for example, to meet a legal obligation, address a specific security incident, handle legal claims or document our response to your privacy request. We keep only what is needed for that purpose and delete it when it is no longer required.

If we cannot fulfill all or part of your request, we explain the reason unless prohibited by law. Where applicable law gives you a right to appeal, our response explains how to appeal by contacting contact@selahlah.com.

Once deletion is complete, your account and deleted information cannot be restored through Selahlah.

Children and teenagers

Selahlah Prayer is intended for people aged 13 and older. Children under 13 must not create an account or provide personal information through the app.

Children under 13

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will disable the account, stop further collection through that account and promptly take steps to delete the child’s personal information, including directing our service providers to delete it as required by applicable law.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through Selahlah Prayer, email contact@selahlah.com with the subject “Child Privacy Concern.” Include the account email address or public user ID, if known. Please do not send passwords, verification codes or identity documents with your initial message.

We may request limited information reasonably necessary to identify the account and verify a parent’s or guardian’s authority before disclosing personal information or acting on their behalf.

Teenagers aged 13–17

Teenagers should review this policy with a parent or guardian to understand what information the app collects and what other people can see.

Profile information, including faith details, may be visible to signed-in users outside your friends list, as explained in “What other people can see.” Messages and prayer signals are shared with their recipients. Consider carefully what you include in your profile, prayers and conversations.

Additional privacy rights and consent requirements may apply to teenagers under the laws of their state. Where applicable, we honor those rights and obtain any legally required consent before the relevant collection, use or disclosure of personal information. Being aged 13 or older does not remove these protections.

Teenagers and their parents or guardians can contact contact@selahlah.com with privacy questions or requests. We assess requests according to applicable law and verify identity and authority where necessary.
